MINISTRY
ACTIVITIES
Volunteers
and Team Leaders will work together in all areas. Don’t worry, you both may be doing something new for the
first time in your life. But
together the tasks can be accomplished and credit given to the Lord Jesus
Christ. Our efforts are to share
the person of Jesus with the fans. This
is always number ONE!
Registration
of PRO Volunteers and Team Members
This
team will set up a registration table and greet PRO volunteers as they arrive at
the site. At the table, workers
will make sure registration forms and liability release forms are complete.
New volunteers will need to complete an orientation session before taking
part in a ministry activity. Volunteers
will then prepare to engage in their specific ministry assignments or other
ministry activity currently going on. If
you need something to do, come to this table.
Any monies due will be collected at this time.
Accident
or incident reports will be recorded at this table promptly.
If any person is hurt or an unfavorable incident occurs please
report it immediately. This is for
the future protection of PRO and all of us.
Someone will be assigned to write the reports at all times.
Politely
steer fans and other non-PRO people away from this table.
Site
Set-up, Preparation, and Maintenance
All
equipment will be set up on the Thursday prior to each race.
Trucks, tents, stages, sun screen tarps or whatever we are using will be
ready for ministry on Friday Morning. This
requires someone there all the time in case of problems and to serve as
security. Volunteers also will need
to be available during ministry activities to assist in setting up tables,
chairs, electrical cords, etc., as dictated by the activities.
Volunteers will also be needed to dismantle all equipment and clean the
area by Monday.
Maintenance and service problems are to be brought to the Site Team Leader.
Information
Table
A great
way to engage in conversation with the fans and minister to them at the Raceway
is through providing information for them about the Pocono's, tourist
attractions, the race track facilities and our ministry events.
Volunteers for this ministry team will be available to help fans who ask
for assistance in locating gates, restrooms, showers, as well as off track needs
for gas stations, hardware stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
Distribution of Literature
Literature
Volunteers will distribute brochures, magazines, handbills
and other items to fans. These
items will be distributed to fans who are staying in the RV camping area, and to
fans who are walking to and from the grandstand.
This
will be mostly walking. Volunteers
will help place posters at various locations to announce ministry events at the
PRO site.
Children’s
and Teen Activities
This
group of Volunteers will work with children and teens of race fans who come by
the site for either scheduled ministry activities or just for information and
conversation. “Activity
Centers” will be equipped with things for children to do – coloring pages of
bible characters, gluing, face painting, some board games, etc.
If you have games or activities that can be used to entertain the
children, please bring them. Does your church want to help provide some of these
materials? Separate TEEN
activities will be provided if there is enough Volunteer help.
Live Music Concerts
Scheduled
times for live performances and concerts on the agenda for the weekend serve as
one of the biggest attractions that we can provide for the fans.
Individuals or groups with live or accompaniment music presenting a
variety of styles auditioned in advance and scheduled on the program.
Prize
Registration Tables
This is
our prime time to witness and talk to fans about Jesus.
Every Volunteer needs to be available at this time.
Tables will be set up for fans to register for the free prizes.
You will ask them to take a survey for you. If you engage them into a conversation, take the form they
filled out, stand up, and walk to another area to talk. Another Volunteer will sit down in your chair and start
registering another fan. Will need
a minimum of six spaces for volunteers to register fans and at least six more
volunteers ready to slide in a seat for the next fan.
EVANGELISM Team
This is
the heart of our purpose for being at the Raceway. Volunteers working the Prize Registration Tables must have a
desire to win lost souls to Jesus. They
must be familiar with our Survey Brochure and know how to guide a fan thru all
phases of it. They will need to be
sensitive to the Holy Spirit and recognize an opportunity to share the plan of
salvation.
We must
be careful not to be intrusive to fans within the campground.
Buttonholing and argumentative discussions will not be tolerated.
Be very CAREFUL!
You may
open a conversation with a comfortable question. Then be a good listener to the fan’s response.
Lead the fan to ask for more information and thus he opens the door.
You will need to EARN the right to be heard.
Team
members may give away any materials felt in the best interest of the fan you are
talking to.
Night
Crew
Many
people will be “drifting” into or by the PRO site during the night.
This “night crew” volunteer group will simply spend the night at the
site, sitting and talking, playing dominos, strumming guitars, drinking coffee,
or whatever - - but primarily being there just in case race fans and campers
come by needing something. This is
one of the greatest times to have a witnessing opportunity.
Sunday
Morning Worship
With
the race taking place on Sunday afternoon, a surprising number of fans will be
missing a regular worship service. After
you finish breakfast, you may walk among the people gathering, offer a cup of
coffee, conversation, or what ever is needed until the Worship Service starts.
Pray and be sensitive to the person next to you that you might be able to
minister to him in Jesus’s name.
This is
not exhaustive of all the things we will be called upon to do.
Roll with the punches, play the hand dealt to you, or whatever saying you
like. Be flexible because most of
this will not happen as we envision it now.
We want to plug into whatever God wants from our individual efforts as
well as what HE is directing this ministry to do.
ADD New Ministry Activities:
