Dear PRO Volunteers,

While watching a televised race, have you noticed when the cameras swing up into the grandstands the emotion on the faces of the fans?  They are cheering and waving and so absorbed with the action before them.  Then someone sees the camera and begins to wave to dear ol’ MOM back home, and everybody loses focus of the race.  Look at the crowd.  It’s a big crowd!  This racing thing has become a very big deal.

Big deal, big crowd!  On two weekends this summer we are going to be in the midst of a quarter million people and be able to look straight into the faces, eyes and hearts of many.  A very large majority needs to hear about and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ.  Are we ready to show them who He is?

I appreciate your willingness to come and participate with Pennsylvania Racing Outreach in this task for this 2001 race season.  To be here with us means you have given up other activities.  Let us pray it will bear much spiritual fruit.

In this Volunteer Orientation Manual we have tried to cover many of your questions and concerns.  Please come to me or call me if you have other questions.

I would like to add just a few more tips in closing.

  1. Car pool if possible so we have the fewest number of vehicles.

  2. Bring cookies and fruit for yourself and possibly to share.

  3. Come prepared to work.  The activities will demand a lot from all of us.

  4. Don’t count on getting into the track.  We are a ministry first and fans second.

  5. Come prepared to share Jesus at every opportunity.  This is our purpose.

  6. Have a great time.  God’s work is fun.  God’s people have a good time.  Our unique setting for ministry is conducive to having fun and much joy.  Come prepared to make the most of it.

  7. Pray for God to do a mighty work in our midst, in our hearts and the hearts of fans also.  Pray for the weather.  Pray for the equipment.  Pray for safety.  Pray for Satan to be bound.

  8. And let us pray for each other.

Let’s have a good time of ministry together.  Only one driver of each race will stand in the Victory Circle after the race.  May many, many fans leave here knowing that they have the Victory over sin and eternal life in Jesus Christ.

Keep running the race set before us...
